Laura Harbeson, MS, NCC, NCSC, LPCS - Creative Counseling & Learning Solutions Executive Director Laura is the Executive Director for Creative Counseling & Learning Solutions. Her approach to counseling could be described as client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. She encourages an enhanced sense of self-understanding and acceptance of how past experiences have shaped the way we understand and relate to others, as well as how we view ourselves. She facilitates an approach to counseling children, adolescents, individual adults, and families which is centered with a situational and developmental understanding, can include a variety of creative techniques (including art therapy, outdoor/activity therapy, animal-assisted therapy, equine-assisted therapy, music therapy, or play therapy) and can be cognitive-behaviorally based (including PCIT) when appropriate. Laura H works with clients ages 3 and up. Specializations include working with those that have experienced domestic violence, sexual and physical abuse, human trafficking, complex trauma, trauma (personal or vicarious), self-injury, anxiety, parenting, sexual identity related concerns, self-esteem issues, and professional growth. Her availability for counseling appointments is Mondays -Fridays from 8am until 5pm. Laura is also available for supervision for LPCAs that are working toward their full licensure in the state of NC.
Laura Davis, LPC - Creative Counseling & Learning Solutions Director. Laura D is a very gentle & caring therapist that inspires her clients to overcome any obstacle by accessing the strength they have within. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach including CBT, Person-centered, & Adlerian based play therapy to address concerns, worries, or hurts that you or your loved one may be experiencing. This highly individualized approach to counseling addresses personal life challenges and provides meaningful feedback to help you achieve emotional stability, personal growth, and healthy relationships. Laura D works with clients ages 3-103 in individual, group, couples, and family sessions. Her office hours are Mondays - Fridays between 9am-6pm with later appointments available as needed.
Katie Ames, MA, NCC, LPC
Katie Ames received her B.S. from the Ohio State University in 2007 and her M.A. in Community Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. She is a National Certified Counselor (218819), a Licensed Professional Counselor (9382) and a member in good standing of the American Counseling Association. Katie has training and experience in individual, family and group counseling. This training and experience includes individuals of all ages with normal development issues as well as psychopathology. Katie has been providing community based counseling services for children and their families in Rowan County for 4 years. Because each client is unique and presents with his or her own counseling needs, Katie approaches clinical practice using an integrative approach including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, play therapy, creative art therapy, narrative therapy and bibliotherapy. Katie uses these techniques and interventions to help clients gain insight into their unique life experiences while providing a supportive and safe therapeutic environment.
Lynne Allred, LPCA, NCC, MA/Ed Specialist. With thirty years of experience as a high school teacher, Lynne approaches counseling from a cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach and particularly uses that approach assisting students at all levels with academic issues and home responsibilities, as well as adults experiencing a range of difficulties. She also uses techniques that are based in solution-focused brief therapy and positive psychology as well as expressive arts techniques when applicable to the counseling situation.
